After deciding to immigrate to Taiwan, there were many things to prepare. Fortunately, the web design business of the Hong Kong company had been operating for many years, and everything was on track. I could confidently delegate most of the work to my colleagues in the company, allowing me to focus on preparing the immigration-related documents.
I chose a reputable Taiwan investment immigration company, and they were responsible for all documents related to Taiwan and accounting services. Since the legal terminology in Taiwan is quite different from Hong Kong, it can be challenging for Hong Kong people to understand Taiwanese legal provisions initially. Therefore, finding a local consulting company can save a lot of time and avoid taking the wrong path. The Taiwan immigration company communicated with us through communication software. Several colleagues were responsible for our case, and they set up a group to facilitate close communication.
The first step was to send my personal identification documents to them and then receive their letter of engagement. After that, I went to the 40th floor of Lee Garden Center to verify these documents, along with my ID and passport. After waiting for a week, I went back to Lee Garden Center to retrieve the documents. On the same day, I mailed the documents to the office of the immigration consultant in Taiwan. Once they received the documents, we then transferred the first installment of the service fee to the Taiwanese immigration company, and they could formally apply for our Taiwan investment immigration.
The main applicant for immigration is me, and my wife is immigrating as a dependent. We have been in a relationship for almost 20 years, and we initially had no plans to get married. However, for the purpose of immigration, we got married as quickly as possible. It’s similar to our web design service—simple, affordable, and fast, hahaha. After that, we prepared the investment immigration plan. Since we have been operating for 20 years in Hong Kong, our plan is to replicate our Hong Kong company in Taiwan. The plan includes a brief introduction of my educational background, the background of the Hong Kong company, the company’s work cases, and the expected service prices for the Taiwanese company. The immigration consultant will also help supplement some useful information for us, speeding up the application process.
Due to political and pandemic-related reasons last year, many people from Hong Kong immigrated to Taiwan. Many cases required a long wait. We were very fortunate to receive approval from the Investment Review Committee within three months.
